SCEDC Young Entrepreneurs Academy

The Young Entrepreneur Academy is an innovative program that provides young people with the tools and resources they need to start and run their own businesses. The program is designed to inspire and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs by teaching them valuable skills such as marketing, finance, and leadership.  

South County EDC is a non-profit business organization that partners with California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC)  to offer support to the manufacturing companies in South San Diego County.  

Zero Cost Assistance program

The South County Economic Development Council is offering valuable assistance to local manufacturers by providing access to various resources at no cost. These resources include wage subsidies, workforce development programs, operational assistance, and more.

Port of San Diego All-Electric Tugboat Charging Station

Crowley and the Port of San Diego broke ground for the shoreside charging station designed to provide clean energy for the company’s forth-coming zero-emissions tugboat, eWolf. Joined by key partners and community stakeholders, the ceremony marked a significant step forward in the industry’s journey to decarbonization and reduce emissions in the San Diego community. The charging station is a microgrid charging facility that will allow vessels to recharge quickly while reducing peak loads on the community energy

On July 11th, the South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) proudly gathered to commemorate the inauguration of their board for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. The occasion marked a moment of gratitude for the outgoing board chair, Patricia Alvarez, whose tireless efforts significantly advanced the mission of the SCEDC. The South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) held its annual Binational Forum on June, 28th, 2023. The event, which was held at the Chula Vista Golf Course and  brought together business leaders, policymakers, and educators from both sides of the US-Mexico border to discuss key issues affecting the region. The forum covered a range of topics, including Binational Emerging Industries, a discussion with the Consul Generals, and Regional Education and Preparing the Regional Workforce. Attendees

We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Nico Monreal and Diego Munoz for successfully completing the Junior Achievement Fellows Program.  Both Nico and Diego attended CVLCC High School while earning their internship at the South County Economic Council. Through their hard work and dedication, they have both gained valuable skills and knowledge in career readiness, and entrepreneurship. We are proud of their achievements and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
