Do you dream of starting your own business? 

The Young Entrepreneur Academy is an innovative program that provides High School Students with the tools and resources they need to start and run their own businesses. 

Class Schedule
From January 15th – June 4th, 2025, every Wednesday school is in session, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM

South County EDC is a non-profit business organization that partners with California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC)  to offer support to the manufacturing companies in South San Diego County.  

Zero Cost Assistance program

The South County Economic Development Council is offering valuable assistance to local manufacturers by providing access to various resources at no cost. These resources include wage subsidies, workforce development programs, operational assistance, and more.

It is amazing to think it is coming up on five months since first joining the South County Economic Development Council. In that time, it has been challenging and tremendously rewarding to work with our businesses and community partners. The South County Economic Development Council is excited to announce our newest partner California Manufacturing Technology Consulting. Over the next nine months we will work together to perform much needed outreach to the manufacturing sector here in South County San Diego. The outreach will focus on assisting manufacturers prevent, prepare, and respond to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This program is in conjunction with the US Department of Commerce and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.



The City of National City announced the funding of a Small Business Loan Program on June 16th to assist businesses being impacted by the current COVID-19 state of emergency. The City allotted $200,000 of the CARES Act funding they received from the County of San Diego. All or some of the loan can become forgivable if the business uses the funds on payroll, rent, and utilities. The South County Economic Development Council was contracted with

For the past thirty years the South County Economic Development Council has a track record of delivering a strong Economic Conference focusing on where we stand, where we are going, and how we will get there. In this new normal we analyzed how we could continue to provide businesses and our communities with relevant and timely information without placing anyone at risk. We will be taking our Economic Summit virtual with a program taking place
