CLEAN FLEET & ENERGY TRANSITION
TEAS Program
The South County EDC Transportation Electrification Advisory Services (TEAS) Program, in partnership with SDG&E, is a comprehensive support initiative designed to help South County fleet operators navigate the transition to electric vehicles. As California’s regulatory landscape shifts, this program provides the tools, technical expertise, and financial guidance needed to turn electrification challenges into a long-term competitive advantage.
Program Highlights
- Financial & Incentive Access: Direct connection to grants, rebates, and funding opportunities to ensure a financially sound roadmap and predictable operational costs.
- Tailored Guidance: Expert support for every stage of the journey, from initial vehicle selection and operational fit to charging infrastructure and grid considerations.
- Educational Resources: A rollout of high-production training videos and interactive webinars featuring financial, utility, and infrastructure specialists.
- Hands-on Experience: Upcoming “Drive & Try” events where decision-makers can get behind the wheel of electric fleet vehicles and see charging infrastructure in action.

Incumbent Worker Training & Career Advancement
As the transportation and automotive sectors evolve, we are ensuring local workers grow with them. South County EDC secured the first California Employment Training Panel (ETP) grant dedicated to South County — supporting job retention, skill development, and career advancement for regional automotive technicians as the industry shifts toward clean technologies.
In partnership with the California Employment Training Panel (ETP), the South County Economic Development Council provides regional employers with access to essential state-funded workforce development resources. This initiative enables participating member companies to implement high-quality retraining for current staff or specialized onboarding for new hires at no cost, with training delivery available either on-site or at a centralized facility.
By utilizing these ETP resources, businesses can bridge critical skill gaps in industry-specific occupations while applying existing employee wages as a credit toward the required “in-kind” training contribution (p. 40). Our mission is to strengthen the local economy and increase regional productivity through these customized, high-impact training solutions.
