2025 Board of Directors Celebration

On January 9th, 2025, the South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) held its Annual Board of Directors Kick Off meeting at Seven Mile Casino, welcoming all in attendance and thanking them for taking the time to be there. This special event focused on recognizing the outgoing Chair, Debbie Espe, for her leadership and service over the past year.

The meeting began with a swearing-in ceremony led by Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, who administered the oath of office to the incoming Chair, Tony McCune, and the new FY 2025-2026 Board of Directors.

Mayor McCann then took the stage to present Espe with a proclamation award, thanking her on behalf of the City of Chula Vista for her dedicated work guiding the SCEDC. Espe’s contributions were highlighted as instrumental in advancing the council’s initiatives to support economic growth and development across the South County region.

The recognition ceremony included remarks from several elected officials and representatives, including Coronado Mayor Tony Winney, Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre, National City Mayor Ron Morrison, and a representative from the office of San Diego Mayor Vivian Moreno.

The SCEDC would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the mayors and elected officials who took the time to attend and honor Debbie Espe’s successful tenure.
