The South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC) held its annual Binational Forum on June, 28th, 2023. The event, which was held at the Chula Vista Golf Course and brought together business leaders, policymakers, and educators from both sides of the US-Mexico border to discuss key issues affecting the region.
The forum covered a range of topics, including Binational Emerging Industries, a discussion with the Consul Generals, and Regional Education and Preparing the Regional Workforce. Attendees explored bilateral relations, cross-border collaborations, and the future of diplomacy.
In addition to the panels, the forum also included a discussion with U.S. Consul General in Tijuana Tom Reott and Mexican Consul General in San Diego Carlos Gonzalez Gutierrez. Both emphasized the importance of cross-border collaboration and highlighted the potential for economic growth and development in the region.
Finally, educational experts collaborated to reimagine the binational education landscape and empower future generations with transformative opportunities for a prosperous future.
Overall, the Binational Forum provided an opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate and share ideas on how to address some of the challenges and opportunities facing the border region.
