Economic Summit 2024 Recap

Thank you to all who attended this year’s Economic Summit hosted by the South County Economic Development Council, which took place on April 26th at the Balboa Park Club.

South County EDC is a non-profit business organization that partners with California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC)  to offer support to the manufacturing companies in South San Diego County.  

Zero Cost Assistance program

The South County Economic Development Council is offering valuable assistance to local manufacturers by providing access to various resources at no cost. These resources include wage subsidies, workforce development programs, operational assistance, and more.  

SCEDC Young Entrepreneurs Academy

The Young Entrepreneur Academy is an innovative program that provides young people with the tools and resources they need to start and run their own businesses.

Since joining the South County Economic Development Council as its new CEO in early April, it has been amazing to see the commitment and pride local business owners have in their community and their customers. Businesses are facing some of the toughest challenges ever encountered and remain focused on what is best for everyone. Through our outreach efforts, it is apparent businesses are eager to get back to providing services and want to do so

Even in the time of COVID-19 the South County Economic Development Council’s Public Policy Committee and Board of Directors have been busy reviewing and supporting business initiatives critical to the South County. Issues which have come before the SCEDC have included requests to support San Diego’s recovery efforts, SANDAG’s request for funding to construct new border crossing, enhancements to San Diego County’s eviction moratorium, and the renewal of SDG&E’s franchise agreement with the City of



In order to better serve the businesses in South County we have engaged in video conferences with business leaders. The goal of the calls was twofold, first to understand what businesses needed while facing this unprecedented time and second to help disseminate the most current information. Over the past two weeks these calls have evolved from general business video conferences to industry specific. Working with the industry specific groups has allowed us to look deeper


