The Chula Vista City Council has unanimously approved Tiffany Allen as the next city manager, officials announced Wednesday.

According to a news release, Allen “is an exceptional leader with a wealth of experience and deep understanding of Chula Vista’s unique needs,” City Council members said. “We are confident that under Tiffany’s leadership, Chula Vista will continue to thrive and achieve even greater success in the years ahead while meeting the evolving needs of our community,” they added. Allen’s appointment will take effect Oct. 3, following the council approving her contract at an upcoming meeting, according to the city.

Allen will replace Maria V. Kachadoorian, who is retiring after almost 40 years of public service, officials said.
