SCEDC Binational Forum 2024 

On August 16th, 2024, The South County Economic Development Council’s Binational Forum is slated to be one of the premier business gatherings in our binational community.

The event aims to bring together civic, business, and community leaders for a day of collaboration, networking, and knowledge exchange. Our panel discussions will offer unique insights and perspectives on key binational topics such as Technology, Workforce, Education, and Emerging Industries.

SCEDC Economic Summit Recap

Thank you to all who attended this year’s Economic Summit hosted by the South County Economic Development Council, which took place on April 26th at the Balboa Park Club.

SCEDC Young Entrepreneurs Academy

The Young Entrepreneur Academy is an innovative program that provides young people with the tools and resources they need to start and run their own businesses. The program is designed to inspire and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs by teaching them valuable skills such as marketing, finance, and leadership.  

South County EDC is a non-profit business organization that partners with California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC)  to offer support to the manufacturing companies in South San Diego County.  

Zero Cost Assistance program

The South County Economic Development Council is offering valuable assistance to local manufacturers by providing access to various resources at no cost. These resources include wage subsidies, workforce development programs, operational assistance, and more.

Chula Vista Sees Opening of Mass Vaccination Site

After a sluggish start to San Diego County’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout, the region has received 173,000 doses over the past few days, coinciding with the launch of a mass inoculation site in Chula Vista on Thursday. Sharp HealthCare will run the site, located in a former Sears department store, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. County Supervisor Nora Vargas said that 1,800 people made appointments Thursday, and a Sharp spokesperson added

Governor Newsome announced the creation of a $500 million California Relief Grant Program administered by the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) at the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development for small businesses that have been impacted by COVID and the health and safety restrictions. Credit Union Tribune Otay Mesa Projects – Mon, December 21, 2020 – David Garrick Work began in October to pave the last stretch of the SR-11 that will connect to a new port of entry in Otay Mesa. Money will help widen La Media Road to six lanes, build new toll border crossing east of existing Otay port of entry.
